GT World Challenge pace questions

How is team pace measured?+

Each session publishes one best lap per car. Pace is the gap between a car's best lap and the fastest lap of the same session, as a percentage, so different circuits can be compared. A team is represented by its best car in each session, and the table shows the median across the season.

What does the gap to the fastest car in class mean?+

The overall gap measures every car against the fastest car on the grid, which is always a Pro car. The class gap measures a car against the fastest car of its own class, so Silver, Gold and Bronze entries can be judged against their direct rivals.

What does places gained mean?+

It is the average difference between a team's best qualifying position and its best finishing position in the same race. A positive number means the team usually finishes ahead of where it qualified.

Why are Sprint and Endurance rounds shown separately?+

Endurance rounds use different qualifying formats and race lengths, so their laps are not comparable with 60 minute Sprint races. At the Spa 24 Hours the stored qualifying is the Superpole shootout, which covers only part of the field, so its qualifying gaps are left out and only its best race laps count.

Why does the Endurance table have no places gained column?+

Over three to twenty four hours, pit strategy and safety cars move cars far more than pace does, so the difference between qualifying and finishing position says little about speed.
